About the Volleyball Federation of Armenia

Our Mission

To develop and popularize volleyball in Armenia by organizing national championships in indoor, beach, and youth volleyball, as well as cup competitions, memorial tournaments, and other official events.

To ensure continuous participation of Armenia's national teams in European and international competitions in both indoor and beach volleyball.

To implement development programs for volleyball, organize coaching and refereeing education and certification seminars, and provide sports schools across the Republic with modern, high-quality equipment.

Our Vision

To ensure the continuous development and mass participation of volleyball in Armenia by organizing high-level national championships across all age groups.

To introduce modern technologies and approaches, and to regularly host European and international competitions in Armenia, contributing to the growth and recognition of volleyball in the country.

Our History

Significant milestones in the development of Armenian volleyball

1991

International Recognition

In 1991, the Volleyball Federation of Armenia became an official member of the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV) and the Fédération Internationale de Volleyball (FIVB), marking an important step toward integrating Armenian volleyball into the international sports community.

The Federation’s first President was Rayik Ghukasyan.

2015

Beach Volleyball Championship

In July 2015, the Eastern European U18 Beach Volleyball Championship was held in Sevan, Armenia, highlighting the country’s growing role in hosting international volleyball events.

2020

Snow Volleyball Events

In January 2020, the first men’s and women’s tournaments of the Eastern European Association of Snow Volleyball were held in Tsaghkadzor. In February 2020, Tsaghkadzor also hosted a stage of the Snow Volleyball EuroTour.

2025

CEV U16 European Championship

The 2025 CEV U16 Volleyball European Championship was held in Yerevan, Armenia, from 23 July to 3 August 2025. The Volleyball Federation of Armenia organized the tournament with the support of the Confédération Européenne de Volleyball (CEV). Italy won the tournament for the third time. The top seven teams qualified for the 2026 FIVB Volleyball Boys’ U17 World Championship in Qatar.

2026

Karen Asmaryan, President of VFA

The 10th General and Elective Conference of the Volleyball Federation of Armenia was held on January 10, 2026, at the Grand Hotel in Yerevan. The congress was attended by 63 of 70 invited delegates, including representatives of the National Olympic Committee of Armenia, the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports, the Yerevan Municipality, as well as volleyball clubs, sports schools, and regional representatives. Karen Asmaryan was unanimously elected President of the Federation; Ashot Gasparyan was elected Vice President, and Smbat Gevorgyan was elected General Secretary.
